Nothing is more important than family - which is why we’ll do everything we can to help you look after their, and your, best interests.

Eric Robinson is one of the South Coast’s leading Family law firms. Our expert team can advise you about your rights in a wide range of family-related issues – from divorce and separation to domestic violence, care proceedings and civil partnerships.

Whatever you need, we’ll provide practical, sensitive support that will help you achieve the best outcome in the least painful way.

As it has been well publicised, Legal Aid for most family matters is no longer available with effect from 1 st April 2013. However, in limited circumstances, Legal Aid is available and Eric Robinson retain a Contract to deal with such matters at our Bitterne office. Legal Aid is still available in cases involving Local Authorities and where there has been Domestic Violence. However, strict conditions apply.

In order to provide a valuable service to our clients, Eric Robinson have introduced the following fee structure:-

Pre-nuptial Agreements £945.00 plus V.A.T

Cohabitation/Separation Agreements £545.00 plus V.A.T

Divorce proceedings:

Decree proceedings only £499.00 including V.A.T and excluding disbursements (£340.00 divorce Petition fee and £45.00 Decree Absolute fee). This does not apply to divorces contested in any manner whatsoever or children or Financial Remedy advice or proceedings, nor the cost of effecting Personal Service of divorce proceedings by a Process Server or Enquiry Agent. Any work incurred in checking, verifying Fee Exemption documents will be added.

In addition, Eric Robinson offer a “Pay As You Go” style service for specific areas of work. For example, you may require assistance with a specific form of work, perhaps advising and drafting an application for child contact or residence. We would not go on the Court Record as acting for you, but can provide advice and assistance on an ad hoc basis. Fees can be agreed between yourselves and the Firm in advance and paid in advance.

To assist clients in dealing with their matters, we are also prepared to offer alternatives to our traditional hourly rate fee structure. Clients can opt to pay for legal work on an hourly basis (plus V.A.T and disbursements) in the traditional manner or, alternatively, subject to agreement and negotiation with the Firm, agree a fixed fee for certain types of work. For example, depending on the nature of the case, a Financial Remedy matter to include advice and the issue of Form A to the Hearing of a First Appointment (£3,000.00 plus V.A.T. and disbursements). We appreciate that each case is different in its complexity and character and therefore each individual fixed fee must be negotiated and agreed and paid in advance.

In certain circumstances, subject to the discretion of the Firm, a client who would previously have qualified for Public Funding may be offered a reduced hourly rate, on specific terms.

We at Eric Robinson are always looking for innovative and new ways of assisting our clients to resolve their difficulties. For further information and advice, please do not hesitate to contact Michael Dyer or another member of the Department
